Singapore’s Sentosa island — a notoriously expensive and plasticised tourist destination — vibrated with a strange energy yesterday as US president Donald Trump and North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong-un met at the Capella Hotel to discuss the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. The world’s media descended on the city-state, which, characteristically, kept them at arm’s length.
