Since April 2016, Cambodian human rights activists — Lim Mony, Yi Soksan, Nay Vanda, Ny Sokha and Ny Chakrya — were detained for allegedly bribing a witness in a case relating to opposition leader Kem Sokha. They have been in pre-trial imprisonment ever since. Recently, their detention was extended to a further six months.
These portraits — of ordinary Cambodians wearing the facemasks of the five detained — were taken in Phnom Penh and intended to remind the world that the plight of the “Adhoc five” hasn’t been forgotten.
