These photos were taken between May and June, when my partner – travel writer, and author Marco Ferrarese – and I went to Pakistan for the first time. We landed in Lahore and travelled to the northern region, Gilgit-Baltistan. This part of the country, which starts in Gilgit, proceeds east to Skardu and Shigar – above Indian Ladakh – and ends westward in Ghizer on the way to Chitral. There, we saw some of the world’s biggest and tallest mountains. These landscapes are so beautiful and so stunning that when I showed them to friends back in Penang, they said, “Surely the background is photo-shopped”.
