Melanie Gritzka Del Villar takes driftwood remnants from typhoon wreckage gathered on the shores of Philippine islands, combining them with images from local Filipino and Thai newspapers.

Melanie Gritzka del Villar, born 1982 of German-Philippine parents, has lived, worked and studied in Germany, Spain, England, Thailand, and the Philippines. With a background in figurative painting, she has long been drawn to the use of found surfaces and mixed media processes.
