That city became Semarang since the seawater wanted
to climb the hill and have a new year’s party in the space inside
colonial buildings. Drink friendship
and paint your photo on the rainy season’s walls.
All night long it wears an electrical raincoat:
the city floating 45 degrees above history.
In its raincoat, clove cigarettes and an ATM card.
