In the field of Chinese film history, Paul Fonoroff is probably the most qualified to talk about old Chinese film magazines. The ex-film critic of the South China Morning Post and a Mandarin-speaking television media personality in both Hong Kong and mainland China had amassed an impressive collection of old Chinese film magazines from the 1980s through to the 1990s. By the turn of the century, Fonoroff was well-known among friends and acquaintances for his collection.
