
In Vietnam today, while the economic and military rise of China causes public concern, all eyes are on the island dispute in the South China Sea. Few, however, detect a sleeper issue on the country’s southwest borderline, in the Vietnamese-Cambodian territorial dispute. Although the border issue has become material for Cambodian nationalist discourse and propaganda, it is largely unknown, neglected, or underestimated by the Vietnamese public.
